Chicago Animal Care and Control
While the city does not offer veterinary services to the public, it does offer free spaying and neutering to residents of those zip codes with the highest number of stray animals (60608, 60609, 60612, 60617, 60618, 60619, 60620, 60621, 60622, 60623, 60624, 60628, 60629, 60632, 60636, 60637, 60639, 60641, 60643, 60644, 60647, 60649, 60651, 60652).

The city also operates an "Animobile," a mobile surgical van which performs free on-the-spot spay and neuter surgeries for dogs in those high-risk neighborhoods (listed above) who weigh less than 50 pounds.

For both Animobile and clinic spaying and neutering services, proof of residence in a qualifying zip code is required. If needed, a rabies vaccination will be given for $15 at the time of the operation.

Hours: On-site surgeries are performed on the last Wednesday of each month. Animobile surgeries are performed every Thursday. Appointments are required.
