This long and narrow dog run, located directly under the El tracks, isn’t much to look at, but until the long-anticipated Grant Bark Park opened in July 2006 (see below), this park was the only off-leash option in the South Loop. Most dogs adjust to the noise fairly quickly, we hear.

The city’s newest dog park, opened in July 2006, may be one of its nicest, with asphalt and gravel areas, trees providing ample shade, plenty of space, and a drinking fountain to accommodate dogs large and small.
