As long as you are willing to spring for a permit, which is almost always required, you can find lots of swimming spots around Chicagoland.
Chicago and the northern suburbs have beaches set aside for hounds, and some of the suburban dog parks have lakes. But be warned: there are hazards involved. Lake waters contaminated with bacteria, gasoline leaking from boats, rough waters, and fines for an expired permit may make you inclined to try an indoor swim. There are two pools just for hounds in Chicago—at Canine Empire and Pooch Chicago—though both are restricted to members of the daycare facilities where they are located.
