We've explored pet stores all over the city, and chosen the real stand-outs. We looked for shops that carry creative products that you won't find everywhere; stores that offer the basics at great prices; and those that go beyond the call when it comes to customer service.
We excluded from our survey all stores that sell dogs—they keep puppy mills in business. And we eliminated the big chains, not because we don't shop at them (we do!), but because this list is about stores that are in some way special.
