Does anyone know why dogs will eat grass? i know they throw up afterwards but why do they eat it in the first place? Oh, and is it normal for a dog to be super shedding in the fall? i thought it was something more for the spring....
Re:eating grass...why? I've heard they eat grass when their stomachs are upset, actually. Sort of a natural remedy for an upset stomach. Not all dogs throw up afterwards. What are you feeding your dog?

Re:Re:eating grass...why? Just her dog food. HOwever, we have recently moved and i've had to work longer hours..i wonder if she's upset. SHe's eaten grass before but lately it's everyday and she's throwing it back up...not her food though. Just the grass.

Re:eating grass...why? My dog loves to eat grass. We have no idea why. I too have heard that dogs eat grass because they have stomach problems, but that's not the case with my dog. He just loves grass.

Re:Re:eating grass...why? my dog eats grass, plants, flowers, leaves, etc.. eveytime we go out i have to pull him away from destroying the neighbors' plantlife. he doesn't throw it up tho. fyi: my grandma has mentioned that dogs pick up on the medicinal properties found in certain plants.

Re:eating grass...why? I think it may be a nutritional supplement. But I do think that it must also be a stomach upset aid. Often my dog would eat it and then seem to feel better and NOT throw up when he had been acting like he was going to throw up earlier. Sometimes he did throw up afterwards though. And sometimes he seemed to just like to eat the grass.

Re:eating grass...why? i have 2 yellow labs who both love to chew grass--just cuz they like it--they never throw it up,sometime they don't even swollow it just chew on it---but didn't you even chew a piece of grass--some are pretty sweet-i think thats why my girls chew it

Re:eating grass...why? shedding most dogs shed twice a year == in the spring(to get rid of the winter coat) and the fall( get get rid of the summer coat-and get a thicker coat for the winter) if you give them flaxseed oil it help with the shedding(its not as bad)
