I just moved to Chicago from San Francisco and am having a hard time figuring out the licensing rules and regs. I've heard I need both a city license as well as a park license? My dogs are spayed/neutered and up to date on shots, but I don't have a Chicago county rabies tag #, nor do I have proof of spay/neuter -- how do I go about getting my pooches legal? Any advise is much appreciated!
Re:The 101 on Licenses for Newbies As far as I know, you don't need a park license for the City of Chicago (though some suburbs require licenses). But you do need a dog license. Here are a couple of links that might get you started. The first is the City's department of care and control. The second is the FAQ page for the city clerk's office on Dog licenses. Good luck.
Re:The 101 on Licenses for Newbies Find a great vet--there are some postings online with reviews. Your vet will request your dog's medical records from your vet in San Francisco. The vet will then fill out a form and can sign off that the dog was neutered/spade. The vet has this form. Then send the check in to the city clerk (address should be provided by vet) along with a $5.00 check. As for the city parks, they planned to implement a park fee, but that plan failed.
